Weather and Seasons in Czechia

V Česku jsou čtyři roční období.There are four seasons in Czechia. Jsou to jaro, léto, podzim a zima.They are spring, summer, autumn and winter. Každé období má jiné počasí.Each season has different weather. Češi mluví o počasí velmi často.Czechs talk about the weather very often. Je to běžné téma v práci i doma.It is a common topic at work and at home.

Jaro začíná v březnu.Spring begins in March. Dny jsou dlouhé a teplé.The days are long and warm. Na stromech rostou první listy.The first leaves grow on the trees. Na zahradách kvetou květiny.Flowers bloom in the gardens. V dubnu je počasí každý den jiné.In April the weather is different every day. Ráno svítí slunce a odpoledne prší.In the morning the sun shines and in the afternoon it rains. Lidé nosí lehkou bundu.People wear a light jacket.

Léto je teplé období.Summer is a warm season. V červenci a v srpnu je horko.It is hot in July and August. Teplota je často třicet stupňů.The temperature is often thirty degrees. Lidé jezdí k vodě a do lesa.People go to the water and to the forest. Děti mají velké prázdniny.Children have the long summer holidays. Večer jsou někdy bouřky.In the evening there are sometimes thunderstorms. Po bouřce je vzduch čistý.After a storm the air is clean.

Podzim začíná v září.Autumn begins in September. Listy na stromech jsou žluté a červené.The leaves on the trees are yellow and red. Ráno je často mlha.There is often fog in the morning. Prší a fouká studený vítr.It rains and a cold wind blows. Lidé nosí deštník a teplý svetr.People carry an umbrella and wear a warm sweater. V listopadu je brzy tma.It gets dark early in November.

Zima je studené období.Winter is a cold season. V prosinci a v lednu je mráz.There is frost in December and January. Někdy sněží celý den.Sometimes it snows all day. Na horách je hodně sněhu.There is a lot of snow in the mountains. Lidé tam lyžují a bruslí.People ski and skate there. Ve městě sníh rychle taje.In the city the snow melts quickly. Na ulicích je pak voda a bláto.Then there is water and mud in the streets.

Češi sledují předpověď počasí.Czechs follow the weather forecast. Předpověď je v televizi a v mobilu.The forecast is on TV and on the phone. Lidé se ptají: „Jaké je venku počasí?“People ask: “What is the weather like outside?” Odpověď je krátká: „Je hezky.“ nebo „Je ošklivo.“The answer is short: “It’s nice.” or “It’s nasty.” Počasí je tady každý den jiné.The weather here is different every day. Lidé mají proto bundu v autě i v létě.That is why people keep a jacket in the car even in summer.
