Karkulka žije v malém domě. She lives in a small house. Vedle domu je velký les. Next to the house there is a big forest. V lese žije babička. Grandmother lives in the forest. Babička je stará a nemocná. Grandmother is old and ill.
Maminka volá: „Karkulko, pojď sem!“ Mum calls, “Little Red Riding Hood, come here!” Maminka má košík. Mum has a basket. V košíku je chleba, mléko a koláč. There is bread, milk and a cake in the basket. She takes the basket and goes into the forest.

Karkulka se ptá: „Babičko, proč máš velké oči?“ She asks, “Grandmother, why do you have big eyes?” Vlk říká: „Chci tě dobře vidět.“ The wolf says, “I want to see you well.” Karkulka se ptá: „Babičko, proč máš velké ruce?“ She asks, “Grandmother, why do you have big hands?” Vlk říká: „Chci tě dobře držet.“ The wolf says, “I want to hold you tight.” Karkulka se ptá: „Babičko, proč máš velké zuby?“ She asks, “Grandmother, why do you have big teeth?” Vlk volá: „Chci tě jíst!“ The wolf shouts, “I want to eat you!” Karkulka volá: „Pomoc! Pomoc!“ Little Red Riding Hood shouts, “Help! Help!”
